Sugar Crack

From an early age, sugar and sweets are used as tools of reward, comfort, and control, quietly shaping behaviour and creating patterns that can lead to dependency. What begins as a treat becomes something learned, expected, and normalised embedded in everyday rituals and emotional responses. At the same time, products like ice cream are often presented in ways that blur into the language of desire, with soft forms, drips, and suggestive imagery placed directly in front of us, absorbed without question. 

These works play with that tension: bright, playful, and kitsch on the surface, yet deliberately loaded. It draws attention to how early exposure seeps into our understanding of pleasure, gender, and consumption. What appears fun and harmless begins to reveal something more unsettling, the subtle conditioning that sits beneath, hiding in plain sight.
